The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 Coming from between the back and the ribs. 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again. 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 And it is not amusement. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
