Call to mind when Abraham said to his father and his people: “I totally disown all whom you serve 26 "Except Him (i.e. I worship none but Allah Alone) Who did create me, and verily, He will guide me." 27 and he left these words to endure among his descendants, so that they might return [to God]. 28 Nay, but I gave these and their fathers enjoyment of days, until the truth came unto them, and a manifest Messenger. 29 When the truth came to them, they said, "This is magic and we have no faith in it". 30 Then they said, "Why this Quran had not been revealed to a man from either of the two great towns". 31 Are they the distributors of your Lord’s mercy? We have distributed among them their comforts in the life of this world, and gave high status to some over others so that they mock at each other; and the mercy of your Lord is better than all what they hoard. 32 And were it not that all mankind would have become of one community (all disbelievers, desiring worldly life only), We would have provided for those who disbelieve in the Most Beneficent (Allah), silver roofs for their houses, and elevators (and stair-ways, etc. of silver) whereby they ascend, 33 And for their houses, doors (of silver), and thrones (of silver) on which they could recline, 34 and ornaments of gold. But all of these are but the provision of this present life; it is the life to come that the Lord reserves for those who fear Him. 35
