A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 This is a Book revealed to you. Let there be no impediment in your heart about it. (It has been revealed to you) that you may thereby warn [the unbelievers], that it may be a reminder to the believers. 2 (People), follow whatever is revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow other guardians besides Him. However, you pay very little attention (to Our words) 3 Many a habitation have We laid low before: Our retribution came upon them in the night or in the midst of siesta at noon. 4 No plea had they, when Our terror came unto them, save that they said: Lo! We were wrong-doers. 5 Then We will surely question those to whom [a message] was sent, and We will surely question the messengers. 6 So indeed We shall inform them with Our knowledge and We were not absent. 7 And on that Day, the weighing will truly be done; so those whose scales prove heavy are the successful. 8 As for those whose bad deeds weigh heavier, they will lose their souls for their injustice to Our revelations. 9 We assuredly established you in the earth and arranged for your livelihood in it. Little do you give thanks. 10
