The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 Who will be honoured 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 and extended shade, 30 And water gushing, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
