Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Travailing, worn. 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
