Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 therein a running fountain, 12 raised couches, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
