The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 and a few from later times. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and banana trees, 29 and extended shade, 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
