The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 Who will be honoured 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 And water gushing, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
