The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 and gently take it away; 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment). 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). 26
