The Romans (Al-Room)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ A. L. M. 1 The Romans are vanquished, 2 in a land close by. But, after their defeat they shall become the victors. 3 in a few years. All power belongs to Allah both before and after. On that day will the believers rejoice 4 at the victory granted by Allah. He grants victory to whomsoever He pleases. He is the Most Mighty, the Most Compassionate. 5 (It is) the promise of Allah. Never does Allah depart from His promise: but most men understand not. 6 People simply know the outward aspect of the worldly life but are utterly heedless of the Hereafter. 7 Have they not inwardly pondered – that Allah has not created the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, except with truth and a fixed term? And indeed many people deny the meeting with their Lord. 8 Have they not travelled on the earth and seen how the others before them had met their end? They were far more powerful than them, furrowed the earth and colonised it far more than they; and their apostles came to them with visible signs. It was surely not for God to wrong them, they wronged themselves. 9 Then the end of those that did evil was evil, for that they cried lies to the signs of God and mocked at them. 10
