The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered? 1 We created man of a sperm-drop, a mingling, and We made him hearing, seeing. 2 Surely We showed him the Right Path, regardless of whether he chooses to be thankful or unthankful (to his Lord). 3 Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains and shackles and a burning fire. 4 Surely the devotees will drink cups flavoured with palm blossoms 5 From a fountain whence the bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to gush abundantly. 6 They fulfil their vows, and fear a day whose evil is upon the wing; 7 those who, for the love of Him, feed the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 (Saying): "We feed you for the sake of God, desiring neither recompense nor thanks. 9 Surely we fear from our Lord a stern, distressful day. 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that day, and gave them freshness and joy. 11 And reward them for their perseverence Paradise and silken robes, 12 Reclining there upon couches, they shall see neither the sun nor the moon. 13 Near them shall be its shades with its clusters hung gently down, 14 And brought round amongst them will be vessels of silver and also goblets of glass. 15 Godblets of silver, they shall have filled them to exact measure. 16 And therein they shall be given to drink a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 A fountain there, called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And there shall go round unto them youths ever-young. When thou seest them thou wouldst deem them pearls unstrung. 19 And when you see there, you shall see blessings and a great kingdom. 20 Upon them will be green Garments of fine silk and heavy brocade, and they will be adorned with Bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give to them to drink of a Wine Pure and Holy. 21 This is your reward. Your endeavour is fully acknowledged. 22
