Observedest thou him who turned away? 33 who at first gave a little, then later held back? 34 Does he have knowledge of the hidden, so he can foresee? 35 Or is he not informed with what is in the Pages (Scripture) of Musa (Moses), 36 and Abraham, who paid his debt in full? 37 That no soul laden bears the load of another, 38 and that a man shall have to his account only as he has laboured, 39 and that his work is surely seen 40 then he shall be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense, 41 And that thy Lord, He is the goal; 42 And that He it is who maketh laugh, and maketh weep, 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 It is He who has created spouses, male and female, 45 From a seed when lodged (in its place); 46 And that He hath ordained the second bringing forth; 47 It is He who grants people temporary and durable wealth. 48 and that it is He alone who sustains the brightest star; 49 And that it is He Who destroyed the (powerful) ancient 'Ad (people), 50 And Thamud (people). He spared none of them. 51 And also the people of Nuh aforetime. Verily they were even greater wrong-doers and more contumacious. 52 and the Subverted City He also overthrew, 53 and then covered them from sight forever. 54 About which, then, of thy Sustainer's powers canst thou [still] remain in doubt? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 What is to come is imminent. 57 apart from God none can disclose it. 58 Then at this statement do you wonder? 59 Or do you laugh, and do you not weep 60 Indulging in pleasantries? 61 So prostrate yourselves before God and worship him. ۩ 62
