The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the star when it descends, 1 Your companion hath not gone astray, nor hath he erred. 2 Neither does he speak of his own will. 3 Indeed it is not except a Revelation which is revealed, 4 One of mighty powers hath taught it him. 5 Lord of power and wisdom. So he acquired poise and balance, 6 being on the higher horizon. 7 and then drew near, and came close, 8 he was but two bows' length or even nearer, 9 so (Allah) revealed to His worshiper (Gabriel) that which he revealed (to Prophet Muhammad). 10 His heart lies not of what he saw; 11 Will you dispute with him what he saw? 12 And verily he saw him yet another time 13 by the lote-tree of the farthest limit, 14 Near which is the garden, the place to be resorted to. 15 When that which shroudeth did enshroud the lote-tree, 16 The sight (of Prophet Muhammad SAW) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond (the) limit (ordained for it). 17 He certainly saw the greatest (signs) of the existence of his Lord. 18 Have ye thought upon Al-Lat and Al-'Uzza 19 and your third idol al-Manat (whom you considered as God's daughters)? 20 What! unto you the males and unto Him the females? 21 Behold, such would be indeed a division most unfair! 22 They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath revealed no warrant. They follow but a guess and that which (they) themselves desire. And now the guidance from their Lord hath come unto them. 23 Shall man have whatever he craves? 24 But it is to Allah that the End and the Beginning (of all things) belong. 25
