The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 and by the day when it unveils. 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 Indeed, your efforts are diverse. 4 We shall facilitate the path to bliss 5 for those who spend for the cause of God, 6 We will facilitate for him the easy end. 7 And as for him who is niggardly and considers himself free from need (of Allah), 8 and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). 9 We shall pave his way to hardship, 10 nor will his wealth profit him when he falls [into the pit]. 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 Wherefore I have warned you of Fire flaming, 14 in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- 17 he that spends his possessions [on others] so that he might grow in purity 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; 20 and before long he will be well satisfied. 21
