۞ But We shall say, "Assemble those who did wrong together with their associates and what they worshipped 22 apart from God, and guide them unto the path of Hell! 23 And halt them, to be questioned: 24 "What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?" 25 Nay, but that Day they shall surrender, 26 and approach each other with questions, 27 They will say: "It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!" 28 They shall say: Nay, you (yourselves) were not believers; 29 Moreover, we had no power at all over you: nay, you were people filled with overweening arrogance! 30 Thus, the words of Our Lord about us have come true and now we are suffering the torment. 31 So then, [if it be true that] we have caused you to err grievously - behold, we ourselves had been lost in grievous error!" 32 Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. 33 As such We shall deal with the evildoers. 34 for, behold, whenever they were told, "There is no deity save God," they would glory in their arrogance 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 'No indeed; but he brought the truth, and confirmed the Envoys. 37 (They will be told), "You will certainly suffer the painful torment 38 “And you will not be compensated except for your deeds.” 39 Not so, however, God's true servants: 40 Those! theirs shall be a provision known: 41 Fruits; and they will be honoured. 42 In Gardens of peace. 43 On couches facing one another; 44 Round shall be passed a cup unto them filled with limpid drink: 45 white and delicious to those who drink it, 46 but not harmful or intoxicating. 47 They will have with them loving wives with big black and white eyes 48 (Pure) as they were hidden eggs (of the ostrich). 49 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 50 One of them will say: “I had a companion in the world 51 Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death). 52 "(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?" 53 He will say, "Would you [care to] look?" 54 Then he will look and see him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He says, 'By God, wellnigh thou didst destroy me; 56 And but for the favour of my lord, I should have been of those brought forward. 57 "Is it (the case) that we shall not die, 58 "Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)." 59 Verily this! that is the supreme achievement. 60 For the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is this not a better reward than the tree of Zaqqum 62 For We have truly made it (as) a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 for, behold, it is a tree that grows in the very heart of the blazing fire [of hell,] 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 The dwellers of hell will eat that fruit and fill-up their bellies. 66 And behold, above all this they will be confounded with burning despair! 67 Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire. 68 for, behold, they found their forebears on a wrong way, 69 So they (too) were rushed down on their footsteps! 70 And indeed before them, most of the former people went astray. 71 But We sent aforetime, among them, (messengers) to admonish them;- 72 Then look how was the end of those who were warned - 73 Except the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 74
