(Muhammad), remind them, by the Grace of your Lord, that you are neither a soothsayer or an insane person. 29 Or do they say: “He is a poet for whom we await an adverse turn of fortune.” 30 Say: Wait, for surely I too with you am of those who wait. 31 Does their reasoning prompt them to this, or they are a people rebellious? 32 Or do they say, 'He has invented it?' Nay, but they do not believe. 33 So let them bring a single discourse like it, if they are truthful. 34 [Or do they deny the existence of God?] Have they themselves been created without anything [that might have caused their creation]? or were they, perchance, their own creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather they are not certain. 36 Are with them the treasures of thy Lord! or are they the dispensers? 37 Or have they any stairway (unto heaven) by means of which they overhear (decrees). Then let their listener produce some warrant manifest! 38 Has (God) daughters and they sons? 39 Or askest thou them for a wage, and so they are weighed down with debt? 40 Or have they [knowledge of] the unseen, so they write [it] down? 41 Or seek they to ensnare (the messenger)? But those who disbelieve, they are the ensnared! 42 Is theirs a god beside Allah? Hallowed be Allah from that which they associate! 43 And were they to see a portion of the sky falling, they will say, “It is a heap of clouds.” 44 So, leave them until they face their day (of doom) when they will be stunned. 45 A day on which their scheming will not benefit them at all, nor will they be helped. 46 Surely there are other torments besides this for those who are wicked, though most of them do not know. 47 And be patient under the Judgement of your Lord, surely, you are before Our Eyes. And exalt with the praise of your Lord when you arise, 48 and extol His glory at night, and at the time when the stars retreat. 49
