The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), 2 by the angels who float (in the heavens by the will of God), 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 And who plan the implementation. 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 And the second followeth it, 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 and their eyes shall be humbled. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 then he mustered 23 Saying: "I am your lord, most high", 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
