The Stars (Al-Najm)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Star when it setteth, 1 Your comrade erreth not, nor is deceived; 2 and neither does he speak out of his own desire: 3 This is naught but a revelation revealed, 4 He has been taught by the Extremely Powerful. 5 Lord of power and wisdom. So he acquired poise and balance, 6 When he was on the uppermost horizon. 7 Then he drew near, then he bowed 8 Until a space of two bow (arcs) or even less remained, 9 So did (Allah) convey the Inspiration to His slave [Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)]. 10 The heart [of the Prophet] did not misconstrue what he saw. 11 What! So do you dispute with him regarding what he saw? 12 Indeed he saw him a second time, 13 by the lote-tree at the farthest boundary, 14 by the Garden of [Eternal] Repose, 15 when the lote tree was covered in mystic splendour. 16 his eye swerved not; nor swept astray. 17 Assuredly he beheld of the sign of his Lord, the greatest. 18 So have you considered al-Lat and al-'Uzza? 19 And subsequently the third, the Manat? 20 What! For you the son, and for Him the daughter? 21 This is certainly an unjust apportioning. 22 They are but names which you have named, you and your fathers, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow but a guess and that which they themselves desire, whereas there has surely come to them the Guidance from their Lord! 23 Can the human being have whatever he wishes? 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all – the Hereafter and this world. 25
