Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 and by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Does man think that We cannot [resurrect him and] bring his bones together again? 3 Surely We are able to reform even his finger-tips. 4 But man wishes to do wrong (even) in the time in front of him. 5 asking [derisively,] "When is that Resurrection Day to be?" 6 But [on that Day], when mortal sight is confounded, 7 The moon eclipsed, 8 And the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 That day man will say: "Where can I find escape?" 10 Alas! No refuge! 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat that Day. 12 On that day, people will be informed of all that they had done and all that they were supposed to do. 13 Aye! man against himself shall be an enlightenment. 14 Even though he were to put up his excuses. 15 Stir not thy tongue herewith to hasten it. 16 We Ourself shall see to its collection and recital. 17 When We have recited it, follow its words attentively; 18 then it will be for Us to explain it. 19 Nay, (ye men!) but ye love the fleeting life, 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 On the Day of Judgment some faces will be bright, 22 Looking toward their Lord; 23 And how many faces on that Day will be woe-begone 24 knowing that a crushing calamity is about to befall them. 25 Some people, certainly, do not believe in it, but when a person's soul reaches up to his throat 26 And men say: Where is the wizard (who can save him now)? 27 He will then realise it is the parting, 28 and is enwrapped in the pangs of death 29 on that Day he will be driven towards your Lord! 30
