The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the Mountain, 1 and the Book inscribed 2 On an open record. 3 by the much-frequented House, 4 And [by] the heaven raised high 5 And the swollen sea, 6 the punishment of your Lord shall certainly come to pass, 7 Of it there is no averter. 8 On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to those who give the lie (to this Message) 11 Those who sport entering into vain discourses. 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 “Enter it – now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient – it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 Truly, the God-fearing will dwell [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 The offspring of the believers will also follow them to Paradise. So shall We join their offspring to them because of their faith. We shall reduce nothing from their deeds. Everyone will be responsible for his own actions. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. 23 ۞ And they will be waited upon by [immortal] youths, [as if they were children] of their own, [as pure] as if they were pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 Saying: "We were also once full of fear at home. 26 "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 27 We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful". 28
