The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
