There are among the people such who worship Allah and (yet stand) on the very edge. When goodness comes to him, he is content, but if a trial befalls him he falls upon his face, he loses this world and the Everlasting Life; that is indeed a clear loss. 11 They worship such, beside Allah, which neither harms them nor benefits them; this only is the extreme error. 12 He calls upon him whose harm is nearer than his benefit, an evil guide and an evil friend. 13 Verily Allah shall cause those who believe and work righteous works to enter Gardens whereunder rivers flow; verily Allah doth whatsoever He intendeth. 14 Anyone who thinks that God will not help him [His messenger] in this world and the Hereafter, let him stretch a rope up to the sky; then let him cut it off and see if his plan can help to remove the cause of his anger. 15 As such We have sent it in clear verses. Indeed, Allah gives guidance to whom He will. 16 On the Day of Resurrection Allah will most certainly judge among those who believe, and those who became Jews, and Sabaeans, and Christians, and Magians, and those who associate others with Allah in His Divinity. Surely Allah watches over everything. 17 Beholdest thou not that Allah unto Him adore whosoever is in the heavens and on the earth, and the sun, and the moon, and the mountains, and the trees and the beasts, and many of mankind! And many are there on whom due is the torment. And whomsoever Allah despiseth, none can honour; verily Allah doth whatsoever He willeth. ۩ 18 ۞ These twain are opponents who contended respecting their Lord; then as for those who disbelieved, cut out for them shall be raiments of fire: poured out over their head shall be hot water. 19 With it will melt or vanish away what is within their bellies, as well as (their) skins. 20 And they shall be held [in this state as if] by iron grips; 21 Every time they wish to get away therefrom, from anguish, they will be forced back therein, and (it will be said), "Taste ye the Penalty of Burning!" 22
