The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
