The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the setting star, 1 your comrade is not astray, neither errs, 2 Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. 3 that [which he conveys to you] is but [a divine] inspiration with which he is being inspired 4 taught him by one terrible in power, 5 and endowed with wisdom; who in time manifested himself; 6 being on the higher horizon, 7 Then the Spectacle became closer, and came down in full view. 8 Till he was two bows length off or yet nearer. 9 then revealed to his servant that he revealed. 10 The heart was not untrue in (making him see) what he saw. 11 Will you then dispute with him (Muhammad SAW) about what he saw [during the Mi'raj: (Ascent of the Prophet SAW over the seven heavens)]. 12 And indeed he did see the Spectacle again. 13 Nigh unto the lote-tree at the boundary. 14 Nigh unto which is the Garden of Abode. 15 (This was) when the lote-tree was covered with that which covered it. 16 His eye did not waver, nor did it stray, 17 Assuredly he beheld of the sign of his Lord, the greatest. 18 Have you really considered al-Lat and al-"Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third, the other? 20 What! unto you the males and unto Him the females? 21 This indeed is an unjust division! 22 these are nothing but names which you yourselves have devised, you and your forefathers. God has sent down no authority for them. They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own selves desire, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord! 23 Can the human being have whatever he wishes? 24 But unto Allah belongeth the after (life), and the former. 25
