Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 in a Garden on high, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
True are the words of God the Almighty.
