The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Last Hour draws near and the moon is split asunder. 1 And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic. 2 And they call (it) a lie, and follow their low desires; and every affair has its appointed term. 3 Tidings containing a deterrent have come to them 4 a Wisdom far-reaching; yet warnings do not avail. 5 Therefore turn away from them; on the day when the announcer will call towards a severe unknown matter – 6 they will come out of their graves, their eyes cast down, hastening towards their Summoner as locusts rushing about. 7 running in confusion towards the Summoning Voice; [and] those who [now] deny the truth will exclaim, "Calamitous is this Day!" 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 Then he supplicated to his Lord, (saying): 'I am overcome, help me' 10 So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth. 11 And caused springs to gush out from the earth, so that the two waters met totalling a quantity that had been destined. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 floated on under Our eyes: a vindication of him who had been rejected. 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 16 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 17 Ad treated (the truth) as a lie, so how (great) was My punishment and My warning! 18 We sent a tumultuous wind against them on a day of unremitting misfortune, 19 which tore people away and hurled them as though they were trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 20 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 21 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 22
