[AND the tribe of] Thamud gave the lie to all [Our] warnings; 23 And said: "Should we follow only one man among us? In that case we shall be in error and insane." 24 How is it that he has received guidance? In fact, he is the most untruthfull and arrogant person". 25 They will know tomorrow who is the insolent liar. 26 For We will send the she-camel by way of trial for them. So watch them, (O Salih), and possess thyself in patience! 27 Tell them that each one of them has the right to have a certain share of water". 28 But they called their companion, so he took (the sword) and slew (her). 29 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 30 Behold, We let loose upon them one single blast [of Our punishment,] and they became like the dried-up, crumbling twigs of a sheepfold. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 32 Lot's people also gave the lie to the warnings, 33 Surely We sent upon them a stonestorm, except Lut's followers; We saved them a little before daybreak, 34 As a favour from Us. That is how We reward the grateful. 35 And certainly he warned them of Our violent seizure, but they obstinately disputed the warning. 36 They demanded that he turn over his guests to them. We struck their faces, blinded them and said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 37 And in truth the punishment decreed befell them early in the morning. 38 'Now, taste My punishment and My warnings' 39 And indeed, We have made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 40
