The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 It will be a place of return 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
