Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 and arranged cushions 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
