Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 In a Garden on high, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 and couches raised high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
