The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
