Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
CONSIDER the daybreak 1 and the ten nights, 2 And by the even and the odd, 3 And the night when it departeth, 4 Is there (not) in these an adjuration (or evidence) for those who understand? 5 Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with Ad, 6 of Iram, known for their lofty columns, 7 Like whom no one else was born in the cities. 8 And the tribe of Thamud, who hewed rocks in the valley. 9 And with Pharaoh, firm of might, 10 They were tyrants in the land 11 spreading in them much corruption? 12 Thy Lord unloosed on them a scourge of chastisement; 13 Truly your Lord is ever watchful. 14 BUT AS FOR man, whenever his Sustainer tries him by His generosity and by letting him enjoy a life of ease, he says, "My Sustainer has been [justly] generous towards me"; 15 But when He trieth him, restricting his subsistence for him, then saith he (in despair), "My Lord hath humiliated me!" 16 But no; you do not treat the orphan honourably, 17 nor do you urge one another to feed the poor, 18 And you devour inheritance all with greed, 19 And you love wealth with much love! 20 Nay! When the earth is pounded to powder, 21 And your Lord comes with the angels in rows, 22 And hell is made to appear on that day. On that day shall man be mindful, and what shall being mindful (then) avail him? 23 He will say: “Would that I had sent ahead what would be of avail for this life of mine!” 24 On that day the punishment of God and His detention will be unparalleled. 25 and none can bind with bonds like His! 26 [But to the righteous, God will say], "O soul at peace, 27 Return unto thine Lord well pleased and well-pleasing. 28 "Enter you, then, among My honoured slaves, 29 yea, enter thou My paradise!" 30
Almighty God's Truth.
