He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
