The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the Mount, 1 And the Scripture inscribed 2 In a Scroll unfolded; 3 And the House (Kaaba) that is visited, 4 And the lofty roof. 5 And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection). 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 there is none to prevent it. 8 A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking. 9 and the mountains quickly move. 10 Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth 11 all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain 12 The day on which they shall be driven away to the fire of hell with violence. 13 (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. 14 Was it, then, a delusion or is it that you failed to see [its truth]? 15 Endure it [now]! But [whether you] bear yourselves with patience or without patience, it will be the same to you: you are but being requited for what you were wont to do." 16 [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. 18 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. 19 (They shall be) reclining on couches ranged in rows and We shall wed them to houris (virgins of Paradise) with large wide eyes. 20 Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. 21 We shall give them fruits and meat as they desire. 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 but Allah has been gracious to us and has protected us from the punishment of the burning wind. 27 "Verily, We used to invoke Him (Alone and none else) before. Verily, He is Al-Barr (the Most Subtle, Kind, Courteous, and Generous), the Most Merciful." 28
