The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 Those who, when they take by measure from mankind, exact the full, 2 But when they measure out to others or weigh out for them, they are deficient. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 on a fateful Day. 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 10 those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day: 11 And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner! 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. 16 It will then be said, “This is what you used to deny.” 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 A record [indelibly] inscribed, 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure 22 [resting on couches, they will look up [to God]: 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah. 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 when they passed by them they winked, 30 and, on returning to their people, boast about what they had done. 31 On seeing the believers, they would say, "These people have gone astray". 32 (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. 33 But on this Day the believers will laugh at the unbelievers 34 seated upon their couches, they are looking around. 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
