The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Cloaked one, 1 arise and give warning! 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 And all defilement shun! 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 For when the trumpet is sounded, 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 Never. He is refractory of Our signs. 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 Then he beheld, 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 Then he said: naught is this but magic from of old; 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 Him shall I fling unto the burning. 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
