The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Woe unto the scrimpers: 1 Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full, 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Do such people not realize that they will be raised up, 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 it is a written record. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 No indeed, on that Day they shall be veiled from their Lord. 15 Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed, 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 Verily, Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil) will be in delight (Paradise). 22 On thrones, watching. 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 They will be given to drink pure sealed wine. 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 When passing by them, they would wink at one another 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 On high thrones, watching. 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
