Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And cushions ranged 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
