Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Resurrection Verifier; 1 And what is that indubitable event? 2 What do you comprehend by the concrete reality? 3 The people of Thamud and Ad denied the Day of Judgment. 4 The Thamuds were destroyed by a violent blast of sound. 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. 7 So do you see any survivor among them? 8 Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, 9 and rebelled against their Lord's Messenger. So He took them with a stern taking. 10 Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship 11 as a lesson for you, but only attentive ears will retain it. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 Then on that Day shall happen the Event. 15 and the sky will be rent asunder - for, frail will it have become on that Day; 16 and will turn frail, losing all force. The angels will be around the heavens and on that day eight of them will carry the Throne of your Lord above all the creatures. 17 That will be the Day when you shall be brought forth (before Allah) and no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Surely I knew that I shall meet my account. 20 Then he will be in blissful state 21 In a Garden on high, 22 Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. 23 (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! 26 O would that it had made an end (of me): 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 [Thereupon the command will go forth:] "Lay hold of him, and shackle him, 30 then cast him in the Fire, 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 for, behold, he did not believe in God, the Tremendous, 33 nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 nor any food except foul pus 36 which only the sinners will eat.” 37
