Have you then seen him who turns his back? 33 and gives so little [of himself for the good of his soul,] and so grudgingly? 34 Does he [claim to] have knowledge of something that is beyond the reach of human perception, so that he can see [it clearly]? 35 Or has he not been told of what is in the scrolls of Moses, 36 And with Abraham who kept his word: 37 Certainly no one will bear the responsibility of the sins of another, 38 and that man shall have nothing but what he has striven for, 39 and that his work is surely seen 40 Then he will be fully repaid for it? 41 That to thy Lord is the final Goal; 42 It is He who causes laughter and weeping. 43 And that He it is Who causes death and gives life- 44 It is He who has created spouses, male and female, 45 From a drop (of seed) when it is poured forth; 46 and that [therefore] it is within His power to bring about a second life; 47 And that it is He (Allah) Who gives much or a little (or gives wealth and contentment), 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius, 49 It was He who totally destroyed the former 'Ad 50 And Thamud - and He did not spare [them] - 51 as well as the people of Noah before them - [since,] verily, they all had been most willful in their evildoing and most overweening 52 And the overturned towns He hurled down 53 so that there came upon them that which came. 54 Which of your Lord's benefits will you then dispute about? 55 This is a warner, of the warners of old. 56 There hath approached the approaching Hour. 57 No one besides God can rescue a soul from hardship. 58 At this discourse then marvel ye? 59 And do you laugh instead of weeping, 60 While you are indulging in varieties. 61 Rather, prostrate to Allah and worship Him. ۩ 62
True are the words of God the Almighty.
