The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
