The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O THOU [in thy solitude] enfolded! 1 Arise and warn! 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 thy robes purify 4 And pollution shun. 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 LEAVE Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 I shall force him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 Lo! He reflected, and determined -- 18 (Self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! 19 Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; 20 Then he thought; 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 It scorches people's skin 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
