The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Closer and closer to mankind comes their Reckoning: yet they heed not and they turn away. 1 There cometh not unto them a fresh admonition from their Lord but they listen to it while they are playing. 2 Their hearts are involved in play; and the unjust secretly conferred, “What is he, except another a human like you?! So do you follow magic although you have perceived?” 3 The Lord said, "Tell them (Muhammad), 'My Lord knows all that is said in the heavens and the earth. He is All-hearing and All-knowing ". 4 "Nay," they say: "[Muhammad propounds] the most involved and confusing of dreams!" "Nay, but he has invented [all] this!" - "Nay, but he is [only] a poet!" - [and,] "Let him, then, come unto us with a miracle, just as those [prophets] of old were sent [with miracles]?" 5 Not a city before them which We destroyed believed; will they then believe? 6 And We sent not before you (O Muhammad SAW) but men to whom We inspired, so ask the people of the Reminder [Scriptures - the Taurat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel)] if you do not know. 7 We did not give them bodies that needed no food, nor were they to live forever. 8 Our promise to them came true and We saved them and those whom We wanted, but destroyed the unjust people. 9 Now We have sent down to you a Book wherein is your Remembrance; will you not understand? 10
