The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
