These (people of the right hand) consist of many from the ancient 39 and a good many of later times. 40 As for the People on the Left: how miserable will be the People on the Left! 41 mid burning winds and boiling waters 42 And the shade of black smoke. 43 neither cool nor good. 44 For that they were wont to be indulged, before that, in wealth (and luxury), 45 And used to persist in the awful sin. 46 And they were wont to say: when we have died and become dust and bones, shall we, then, verily be raised? 47 We and our fathers of old? 48 (Muhammad), say, "All the ancient and later generations 49 shall be gathered together to the appointed time on a known Day' 50 Then shall you, O you who err and call it a lie! 51 you shall eat (the fruit) of the Tree of Zakkum. 52 You shall fill your bellies with it, 53 "And drink Boiling Water on top of it: 54 drinking it as thirsty camels do.” 55 Thus shall they be entertained on the Day of Recompense. 56 We have created you: why then do you not accept the truth? 57 Did you ever consider the sperm that you emit? 58 did you create it or did We? 59 We have destined death for you and no one can challenge Us 60 that We may exchange the likes of you, and make you to grow again in a fashion you know not. 61 And assuredly ye have fully known the first production wherefore heed ye not? 62 See ye the seed that ye sow in the ground? 63 Is it you that cause it to grow, or are We the causers of growth? 64 If We will We can make it like dry trampled hay, so you would keep crying out. 65 Surely we are burdened with debt: 66 Aye! we are deprived! 67 Have you considered the water you drink? 68 Is it ye who shed it from the raincloud, or are We the Shedder? 69 We could make it brackish, if We pleased; so why do you not acknowledge thanks? 70 Did you consider the fire which you kindle? 71 Did you make its timber to grow, or did We make it? 72 We have made it a reminder and provision for the travelers, 73 Then, exalt the Name of your Lord, the Great. 74
