The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ They ask you about the spoils (of war). Say: 'The spoils belong to Allah and the Messenger. Therefore, have fear of Allah and set things right between you. Obey Allah and His Messenger, if you are believers' 1 The true believers are those who, when Allah's name is mentioned, their hearts quake, and when His verses are recited to them their faith grows, and who put their trust in their Lord; 2 Who perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat) and spend out of that We have provided them. 3 those are, in truth, the believers. They shall have degrees with their Lord and forgiveness, and a generous provision. 4 Even as thy Lord caused thee (Muhammad) to go forth from thy home with the Truth, and lo! a party of the believers were averse (to it). 5 Disputing with thee of the Truth after it had been made manifest, as if they were being driven to death visible. 6 And recall when Allah promised you that one of the two hosts would fall to you, and you wished that the one without arms should fall into your hands. But Allah sought to prove by His words the truth to be true and to annihilate the unbelievers to the last remnant 7 That He might justify Truth and prove Falsehood false, distasteful though it be to those in guilt. 8 When you sought aid from your Lord, so He answered you: I will assist you with a thousand of the angels following one another. 9 And Allah did this just for your happiness and for your hearts to gain contentment; and help does not come except from Allah; indeed Allah is Almighty, Wise. 10
