The elders of Pharaoh's people said: 'Surely this man is a skilful magician 109 who seeks to drive you from your land!" Pharaoh said, "What then do you advise?" 110 They said (unto Pharaoh): Put him off (a while) - him and his brother - and send into the cities summoners, 111 to bring thee every cunning sorcerer.' 112 The magicians came to the Pharaoh and said, "We must have our reward if we are to gain a victory over him (Moses)". 113 'Yes' he answered, 'and you will be among those near' 114 They said, “O Moosa! You may throw first – or shall we be the first to throw?” 115 Said Moses: "Throw ye (first)." So when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people, and struck terror into them: for they showed a great (feat of) magic. 116 And We inspired Moosa that, “Put forth your staff”; it immediately began swallowing up their fabrications. 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and abolished was what they were doing. 118 Thus were they there defeated and brought low. 119 And the sorcerers were cast down, bowing themselves. 120 saying, "We declare our belief in the Lord of the Universe, 121 The Lord of Moses and Aaron. 122 Pharaoh said, "You dare believe in Him before I have given you permission? Behold, this is indeed a plot which you have devised in this city in order to drive its people out. But you shall soon know the consequences, 123 I will cut off on opposite sides a hand and a foot, and then crucify you all' 124 They said: verily unto our Lord we are turning. 125 for thou takest vengeance on us only because we have come to believe in our Sustainer's messages as soon as they came to us. O our Sustainer! Shower us with patience in adversity, and make us die as men who have surrendered themselves unto Thee!" 126
