Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O THOU enwrapped one! 1 keep vigil the night, except a little 2 For half the night, or reduce some from it. 3 Or a little more; and recite the Quran (aloud) in a slow, (pleasant tone and) style. 4 Behold, We shall cast upon thee a weighty word; 5 Indeed, the first part of night is heavier in tread, and more upright in speech. 6 Surely you have in the day time a long occupation. 7 Remember the name of your Lord, and devote yourself to Him wholeheartedly. 8 Lord of the East and the West; there is no Allah save Him; so choose thou Him alone for thy defender - 9 And be patient over what they say and avoid them with gracious avoidance. 10 And leave Me with [the matter of] the deniers, those of ease [in life], and allow them respite a little. 11 Indeed We have heavy fetters and a blazing fire. 12 And food that will stick in the throat, and painful torment 13 On the day when the earth and the hills rock, and the hills become a heap of running sand. 14 Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness upon you just as We sent to Pharaoh a messenger. 15 but Pharaoh rebelled against the Messenger, so We seized him remorselessly. 16 How then, if you disbelieve, will you preserve yourselves on the day which will even turn the children hoary? 17 Whereon the sky will be cleft asunder? His Promise needs must be accomplished. 18 This is indeed a Reminder. Let whosoever will take the Path to his Lord. 19
