The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
