The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 will be easy, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
